Pflugerville City Council Adopts SAFE Technology Standards |
Pflugerville City Council unanimously approved SAFE technology standards on October 27, setting new expectations for how city government uses artificial intelligence, surveillance and municipal data. The measure follows public concerns about automated license-plate cameras. The framework calls for resident oversight, human review of consequential decisions and tighter restrictions on biometric surveillance and sharing city data with outside organizations. The city is expected to establish an advisory process and public transparency resources during a 90-day implementation period. For residents, the policy creates a way to scrutinize technology before it becomes part of everyday city operations. Source: FOX 7 Austin, Oct. 28 |
Pflugerville ISD Rezoning Plan Heads to November 12 Vote |
Pflugerville ISD has finalized Map 10, its recommended elementary attendance-boundary plan for the 2027–28 school year. The plan addresses the transition of students from Dessau, Parmer Lane, Pflugerville and Windermere elementary schools. After reviewing family and staff feedback, the task force revised earlier proposals to preserve Caldwell's dual-language program and reduce disruption where possible. Trustees reviewed the recommendation at their November 2 workshop and are scheduled to vote November 12. Families should check the district's official map before making transportation or enrollment plans. Source: Pflugerville ISD, Oct. 30 |
Downtown East Prepares to Become a New Civic Gathering Place |
Pflugerville's Downtown East project is moving toward its planned early-2027 debut. The development brings together a new City Hall, the Monarch recreation center, gathering spaces and connections to nearby commercial and trail areas. City plans have pointed to January 2027 for the first public openings, though construction and operating schedules can change. The project is designed to make city services and community recreation more accessible while creating a destination near the historic downtown district. Residents should watch for official opening dates, facility hours and traffic updates as the project nears completion. |
New Restaurants Add Variety to Pflugerville Dining |
Stone Hill Town Center and nearby commercial areas are welcoming more places to eat. CAVA brings customizable Mediterranean bowls and pitas; Hopdoddy Burger Bar focuses on burgers, fries and shakes; and Scrambles Brunch offers breakfast and lunch favorites. More restaurant concepts have also been announced for the area, including Ramen Tatsu-Ya, Snooze and Piada Italian Street Food. Planned openings are subject to change, so check directly with each business before visiting. The expanding mix gives residents additional choices for family dinners, brunch and quick lunches close to home. |
Recreation, Fitness and Retail Projects Signal Continued Growth |
Pflugerville's business pipeline extends beyond dining. Previously announced concepts include batting-cage recreation at Taroko Sports, children's indoor play at Kids Empire, and a Club Pilates studio. Other prospective retailers and service businesses are also evaluating sites around town. These projects remain at different planning and construction stages. Announced target dates should not be treated as confirmed opening days. Still, the range of proposals suggests continued interest in serving Pflugerville families locally. |
